Why You Should Keep Nutmeg Away From A Person With A Drug Addiction

If someone in your home is struggling to break a substance abuse addiction, you may want to clean out your cupboards and medicine cabinet quickly. There are things in your home that people can use to get high, and some of these items might surprise you. Nutmeg is a good example of this. Nutmeg has the ability to give to a person the same type of high they would get from drugs, and this is why you should make sure you do not have any nutmeg in your home.

What is nutmeg?

Nutmeg is primarily known as a spice used for holiday cooking, and it is a common ingredient found in homes. Nutmeg contains an ingredient called myristicin. This ingredient is very similar to mescaline, which is a drug found in peyote. Peyote is an illegal substance in the U.S. and comes from cacti. It is known to cause hallucinations; however, it can also be used to treat health problems, such as wounds, fevers, and pain.

When a person consumes enough nutmeg, it can lead to hallucinations and other sensations similar to those people experience from other drugs, such as LSD and ecstasy. This method of getting high is not a new concept. In fact, there is evidence that people in the 12th century used nutmeg to experience highs.

How is this done?

To get high from nutmeg, it will take consuming a large amount of it at one time. The amount needed to get a high is at least four to eight teaspoons; however, it may take even more than that. A person may have to eat an entire container of nutmeg to feel anything, and the results of consuming nutmeg do not happen immediately. It may take more than 48 hours to begin feeling the effects of this spice.

This method of getting high is not extremely popular, though, and there are several reasons for this:

  1. Nutmeg tastes horrible – Eating nutmeg by the spoonful is not pleasant. It is dry, bitter, and hard to swallow. Because it takes eating a large amount of it, a lot of people will avoid getting high with this method.
  2. It leaves you with horrible consequences – The other reason people do not use this method more often is from the aftereffects experienced after consuming large amounts of nutmeg. It can leave you with flu-like feelings, diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. It can also cause your heart to race, and you can experience these feelings for hours or days.

People who struggle with substance abuse addictions will often go to great lengths to get high. If you have a family member with a problem like this, you can help him or her by making sure your house if free of anything that could be a temptation to the addict. About Me

counseling for blended families

I had a very hard time adapting to my new life when I married my husband and moved in with his three kids. Blending two families turned out to be more difficult than I had ever imagined that it could be. After I accepted that I knew nothing about what to do to make the situation less stressful for all of us, I started seeing a counselor to unwind and discuss what I was feeling. Counseling for me turned into counseling for the entire family. If you are having troubles with blending two families, this blog can assist in finding some solutions to some of the problems you are having.
